Non-surgical facial rejuvenation

Botox

Botox is used to treat fine lines in the face, especially around the eyes, forehead and brow. It works by temporarily weakening the muscles responsible for facial expression lines that occur due to muscle activity. It will soften but not remove static facial lines, such as those caused by skin damage due to sun exposure or smoking.

The painless injection is performed in the clinic using an ultra-fine needle. It takes a few seconds to perform the treatment, then you are able to go home. It takes 2-3 days for any improvement to be seen and the full effect may take up to 7 days to occur. The effect should last for about three to six months, but everyone is different. As the results are temporary, repeated treatments are required to maintain the effect.

Fillers

Fillers are a variety of substances that are injected under the skin to give volume, a feature of the youthful face. The types of fillers vary, the most common is hyaluronic acid which works by absorbing water, creating a plumping effect. Over time, the hyaluronic acid breaks down and the water is reabsorbed, this accounts for the defined duration of action of these products.

The injection is performed in the clinic using a tiny needle, and only takes a few minutes. You are then able to go home. As with any injection, you may notice some redness or swelling following the treatment which typically resolves after 48 hours. An aesthetic result is achieved for between 6-18 months and varies with the product and area that is injected. Having regular top-up treatments help to optimize the duration of the product.

During your consultation, Mr Fattah will discuss the risks, benefits, possible side-effects and care following your Botox or filler procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does having Botox or fillers hurt?
Not really. The needle for Botox is tiny and most patients don’t find the injection painful. For fillers, depending where the injection is, there can be minor discomfort. Most filler preparations now contain local anaesthetic to numb the area as the treatment is performed. There are options for pain relief before treatment to ensure the procedure is comfortable, such as local anaesthetic cream.
Will people know I have had botox or fillers done?
Most patients report that people notice them “looking well” but are unable to tell why. Mr Fattah’s ethos is to give a refreshed appearance without obvious signs of treatment. However, very close personal friends may notice a difference.
Can Botox cause long-term nerve damage?
No Botox does not cause this.
What exactly are fillers and are they safe?
Mr Fattah only uses established brands of Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm, that have been used for many years and have a good safety profile. Hyaluronic acid is a natural molecule found throughout the body, it is the main component of the lubricating fluid found in joints. It is synthesized in a laboratory and “cross-linked” into a gel form that can be injected. Over time the cross-links break and the hyaluronic acid then dissolves away accounting for the temporary nature of these fillers. Various preparations have different properties and the consultation will involve a discussion of the best product to meet your needs.
